James Kilgannon has smashed his 5K a day fundraising goal for Strathcarron Hospice.
The 8-year-old was hoping to raise £500 for the charity but has managed to raise a huge £5,000.
Participants in the challenge can choose to walk, run or swim 5K every day for a month.
James chose to run every day during the month of March and tells Central FM news about his journey:
“I’ve been able to get really fit for my football while raising money for Strathcarron Hospice.
“I’m so happy I’ve been able to do all the runs – it has been so amazing.
“It feels amazing, I’m so happy that people have donated because of my running.
“It’s been really hard, and got tougher every day – but I kept on going with people’s donations.”
As well as this, James has managed to fit in training with his football club and even climbed Ben Nevis!
His dad, also called James, says he couldn’t be more proud of his son.
“We never in a million years expected this fundraiser to go this far.
“The amount of money he has raised has been unbelievable.
“We originally set a target of £500 – which we thought would be an amazing achievement.
“The comments have gone far and wide, and the number of people getting involved has been amazing.
“We just want to say thank you to everybody who has supported James – and thank you to Strathcarron Hospice for allowing us to do this.”
