Bid to cut Falkirk school week

Falkirk Council is putting forward plans to reduce the school week.

Councillors will discuss a proposal next month to cut the school week across Falkirk.

It would mean a reduction for secondary school pupils from 26 hours 40 minutes to 24 hours 45 minutes.

All schools would close at 12:30pm on a Friday.

The local authority is needing to save £56 million by 2029 - with a £29.3 million funding gap in 2025/26.

More than 2,000 people signed a petition against the plans, when they were first put forward earlier this year.
