Consultation on Falkirk school hours

Plans to reduce the school week in Falkirk are being shared with parents from today.

The local authority is putting forward proposals to close all local schools at 12:30pm on a Friday.

Falkirk Council is looking to plug a £62 million budget gap.

A recent report said more needed to be done to ensure savings are made.

A campaign group says the move is "disgraceful" - with a ten percent reduction in teaching time for pupils.

A group of councillors lodged a motion, urging the council to confirm no decisions will be taken before a "full and thorough" consultation.
