Four climate protestors have been charged after they blocked fuel leaving Grangemouth.
Activists from This Is Rigged climbed on oil tankers on 19th July last year, and blocked the entrance to a car park.
Twenty people were arrested in total.
They will be sentenced on 1st March.
Lindsey Maycock, a Master’s Student from Perthshire, said:
“The Scottish government was refusing to take action to protect the lives of the people, therefore we had no choice but to take responsibility for our future security. We welcome Humza Yousaf’s opposition to the proposed North Sea licenses, but it is not enough. We need to see a material transition for Scotland’s oil workers.”
Cameron Prince, 22, a student in Glasgow said:
“I don’t think that the guilty verdict was fair or just: the actions I took on 19th July were reasonable, necessary, and proportionate to the situation. We acted in the interest of public safety because companies like INEOS put the entire public at severe risk. I do not regret standing up in protest against such companies and against a government that is willing to put the people first.”
