The controversial plans for a resort on the banks of Loch Lomond have been rejected by the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority Board.
At today's meeting, the National Park Authority Board considered a report on the plans, which recommended it refuse planning permission for the development. Members then unanimously voted to reject the application, bringing a long-running application process to an end.
Theme park operator Flamingo Land had put forward plans to build 104 woodland lodges, two hotels and 372 car parking spaces at the famous tourist location. The £40 million plans would also have included a monorail and waterpark in the Balloch area.
The developer initially submitted plans in 2018, before withdrawing them amid public backlash a year later. A revised proposal was then submitted in 2020. It once again faced strong opposition from the local community council and SEPA, over concerns around the impact on the local area and environmental issues.
The Scottish Greens launched a petition against the proposals, which received over 150,000 signatures.
