Man sentenced after Bo'ness murder

A man will spend at least 20 years in jail for a murder in Bo'ness.

25-year-old Daniel Gauld was found guilty of the murder of 62-year-old Douglas Struthers.

The incident took place in Barony Court in Bo'ness on 14th September 2022.

Struthers died three days later from his injuries.

Detective Inspector Will Harley, senior investigating officer, said: “This was a particularly horrific attack by Gauld on a man who was a stranger to him.

“The family of Mr Struthers and a large number of people in the local community were affected by the extent of violence used by Gauld and our thoughts are with them all.

“I would like to thank the public for their assistance during our investigation.

“Gauld will now face the consequences of his actions and this conviction shows that we will use all the tools we have to investigate and bring to justice those committing such brutal crimes.”
