New suicide prevention training in Stirling

It's hoped new suicide prevention training can save lives in Stirling.

National charity PAPYRUS are to deliver free training in Cowie, Fallin, Plean and Raploch.

They've been given money from the National Lottery to put on the sessions.

Graeme Young, PAPYRUS’ Area Manager for Scotland, said: “Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK and we believe many suicides can be prevented.

“By offering training to a variety of individuals in the four local areas, we will be activating those communities, spreading greater awareness, investing in lifesaving skills and ultimately helping to save lives.

“Prevention is everybody’s business. We need to break down the stigma around suicide and equip people and communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.”
