NHS Forth Valley say primary care under "increasing pressure"

NHS Forth Valley are warning primary care services are being put under "increasing pressure" - due to high levels of Covid-19 related staff absences.

The health board is urging residents to be patient - with services impacted by the pandemic.

NHS Forth Valley have already postponed non-urgent operations due to high numbers of staff shortages.

Cathie Cowan, Chief Executive of NHS Forth Valley, said: “GP practices have and continue to play a key role in the NHS response to the pandemic and I would like to thank all staff working in primary care and other community services across Forth Valley for their tremendous efforts over the last 18 months to support local patients and their families.

“The ongoing impact of the pandemic and the recent high levels of Covid-19 related staff absences not only impacts on the delivery of hospital-based care, but also on the many very important community health services, including those provided by staff in local GP practices, pharmacies, dental practices, and opticians. We are therefore working closely with our colleagues in primary care so that we can respond quickly to changing service and workforce pressures across Forth Valley.”
