Forth Valley schools to close during strike action

All schools in Stirling are to shut during strike action next month.

Stirling and Falkirk Council have confirmed primary schools will close on Tuesday 10th January.

Meanwhile, all secondary schools will be shut on Wednesday 11th.

Members of three trade unions are walking out, in a dispute over pay.

In a statement, Stirling Council said:

"Stirling Council can confirm that all of its primary schools and Additional Support Needs provisions (including Castleview Nursery) will be closed to pupils on Tuesday 10 January, as a result of industrial action by the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes Scotland (AHDS) as well as the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT).

Stand-alone nurseries and nursery classes will remain open as normal.

The industrial action is part of a national dispute over pay for teaching staff.

The Council can also confirm that all of its secondary schools and ASN provisions will be closed to pupils on Wednesday 11 January due to industrial action by the EIS, NASUWT and Scottish Secondary Teachers Association (SSTA).

Free school meal provision for entitled pupils will be made in the form of payment on Tuesday 10 January.

All primary schools will reopen as normal on Wednesday 11 January and all secondary schools will reopen on Thursday 12 January."
