Stirling visitor levy consultation launched

Stirling Council are asking residents for their views on plans to introduce a visitor levy.

The local authority says a 1% charge would raise up to £2.3 million a year.

Falkirk Council are also looking at introducing a visitor levy across the area.

A consultation is open today, and runs until 4th May.

It is estimated the introduction of a 1% levy could generate between £1.5m-£2.3m annually.

A five per cent visitor levy could generate between £5m-£7.5m.

The plans were announced at the end of last year. At the time, Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey, said: “Tourism is one of the most important sectors in the Stirling economy. We are still at the early stages, but we are committed to exploring the potential of the visitor levy scheme and this will involve full public consultation with residents, businesses and visitors throughout 2025.”
