The first of four equality election hustings will take place in Falkirk this evening.
It’s being held at the town’s Trinity Church – and gets underway at 6:30pm.
The SNP’s John McNally, Lynn Munro of the Conservatives, Lib Dem Austin Reid and the Green Party’s Tom McLaughlin are all expected to attend.
The Central Scotland Regional Equality Council have organised further events in Stirling on Monday, Alloa on Tuesday and Bo’ness next Friday.
CSREC’s Equality Engagement Officer, Kieran Gilmore, said:
“CSREC’s Equality Hustings represent an excellent opportunity for local people to hear from and put questions to candidates on their plans for equality in the Forth Valley area.
“Through these hustings, we aim to support community members to engage with local democracy, to give candidates the opportunity to hear from people about the issues of equality that matter to them, and to ensure that equality remains at the forefront of the attention of each of the Westminster parliamentarians in the area.
“With hate crime continuing to be underreported in each of the Forth Valley constituencies, it is vital that we are able to work in partnership with our next Councils to ensure that people are instilled with the confidence to come forward to report hate crime, and that incidences of hate crime occurring are reduced.”
