Sexual violence survivors waiting more than three months for support

Some survivors of sexual violence in the local area are waiting more than three months for support.
That’s according to figures released by Forth Valley Rape Crisis.
The latest data shows almost 40 people are currently on their waiting list.
The group’s hosting drop-in “consent cafes” next week, in Stirling, Balfron and Callander.
Centre manager Mridul Wadhwa says:
“Telling a survivor that they have to be on a waiting list is very difficult. Survivors shouldn’t have to wait for support especially after they have taken what is often a scary and difficult first step to ask for help. We do our best but it isn’t enough.”
Sandy Brindley, CEO of Rape Crisis Scotland said:
“Sexual violence is incredibly traumatic, and too often after making the incredibly difficult decision to ask for help survivors are told that they must wait.
“Let’s be clear; no survivor should ever have to wait for life saving support.
