Vaccine Passport Scheme NOT Expanded in Scotland.

Written by on November 23, 2021

An announcement from the First Minister this afternoon has confirmed that Vaccine Passports will NOT be used to gain entry to more venues across Scotland.

It was hinted at last week, that Scotland would introduce proof of vaccination to enter bars, restaurants and cinemas.

This will not be introduced due to a steady “stabilisation” of coronavirus cases in Scotland.

A statement from the Scottish Government reads: “People attending venues covered by Scotland’s COVID certification scheme are to be given the option of providing a recent negative lateral flow test for the virus, as an alternative to proof of vaccination.”

The current system will remain in place for at least 3 further weeks.

Nicola Sturgeon says: “We have considered the inevitable impact that vaccine certification has on the operation of businesses and concluded that at this stage, extension (of the scheme) would not be proportionate.”
